"This is the highlight"POINT:1 On March 14, 2025, the last day of regular service, the three KiHa 40 series trains were used for the 5881D service from Hakodate to Mori via Fujishiro and Shikabe, and were active throughout the rest of the day.

POINT:3 The H-rubber is reproduced in black for the front driver's and passenger's side windows, and gray for the others.
POINT:4 The front display is interchangeable, and two different fonts of the pre-printed "One Man" part are included.
POINT:5 The two-tiered windows are reproduced in their lowered state during winter through printing.
◆Vehicle Guide
The KiHa 40 series is a general-purpose diesel railcar developed to replace the aging KiHa 10 series, and it debuted in 1977.
・Various types and variants were manufactured, including single-cab and double-cab versions capable of single-unit operation, as well as variations for cold and warm climates, and the presence or absence of toilets. A total of 888 units were operated mainly on non-electrified lines throughout Japan.
The KiHa 40 series trains, which were based at the Hakodate Depot around 1980 and operated on the Hakodate Main Line, Esashi Line, Matsumae Line, and Setana Line, supported transportation despite a reduction in their service area due to line closures and transfers to third-sector companies. With the timetable revision on March 15, 2025, the last remaining regular service on the Hakodate Main Line between Hakodate and Oshamanbe ended.
On the final day of operation, the first southbound train of the day, the 5881D from Hakodate to Mori, which is also the only three-car train in the Hakodate area, was operated by three cars that had served in Hakodate for many years: car 1806 in JR Hokkaido colors, car 1801 with its distinctive modified skirt, and car 1809, known as "The Bounty of the South Seas of Hokkaido."
- "Donan Umi no Megumi" No. 1809 was transferred to Tomakomai Depot after the KiHa 40 series service ended in the Hakodate area and is now active on the Hidaka Main Line.
