The third generation, following the Lancer Evolution VII that was released in 2001, is the final model of the CT9A series, the Lancer Evolution IX MR.
The Evolution IX MR, released in 2006, was the last model to feature the famous 4G63 engine, which had been installed for many years.
"MR" is the name of a high-performance model inherited from the classic Galant GTO, and was adopted for the Lancer Evolution starting with the Evolution VIII MR in 2004.
