The 9600 series, the last steam locomotive of the Japanese National Railways and affectionately known as "Kyuroku," is now available from Tomix!
Here's the key point
POINT 1: The 9600 series is newly manufactured in 1/150 scale! It reproduces the distinctive equipment of the vehicles that operated in Hokkaido, such as the shortened deflector and rotating windows.
POINT 2: You can choose between having a differential/not having one, and with or without an auxiliary light/base only by selecting the parts. Two types of rotating spark arrestors are included: with or without a shade.
Vehicle Guide
The 9600 series was a type of steam locomotive that the then Ministry of Railways began manufacturing in 1913 as the standard type for mainline freight trains. More than 700 units were manufactured, making it one of the representative steam locomotive types of the Japanese National Railways.
●For over 60 years since its introduction, it was mainly used for freight trains and shunting, and was used for shunting at Oiwake Station, the last regular operation by a steam locomotive of the Japanese National Railways, until March 1976.
