Actual vehicle introduction

The first group of EF65-1000 series was produced to replace the 500 series used on the Tohoku Main Line.
- It was originally not equipped with a visor, but later it was added only above the front window, but not above the headlights, giving it a different appearance from the group after No. 1018.
- Vehicles from this group that underwent renovation work at the Hiroshima factory were characterized by their mustard-colored gangways and license plates.

- The early model has no eaves above the front light, and has undergone renovation work at JR Freight's Hiroshima Depot, resulting in a mustard-colored front through door and license plate.
