このうち600番代は1988年にJR東海がクモヤ145-601・602を改造して登場しました。
主に身延線の富士-西富士宮間の区間輸送を中心に使用されていましたが、鰍沢口-甲府間の区間列車や車両送り込みで同線全線、入出庫を兼ねて静岡地区の東海道線でも活躍しました。
2007年の引退まで123系5040番代や115系2000番代と共に運用され、末期には373系や313系との並びもありました。
今回はアイボリー地にオレンジ+緑帯のJR東海標準色を纏い、C-AU711形クーラーが搭載された姿の123系600番代を2両セットで製品化いたします。
